Wild amounts of cash.

In response to a previous post: who can afford a personal Airbus A380?
From Power and Motoryacht Magazine’s 100 Largest Yachts of 2006.

Here is a selection of yachts owned by Middle Eastern Oil.

#20; Prince of Qatar’s yacht (until last year) “Al Mirqab”, 311′, launched 2000.

Al Mirqab

#22; Prince Alwaleed of Saudi Arabia, “Kingdom 5KR”, 281′, built 1980. This boat used to be known as “Trump Princess”. The new Kingdom, in design if not build now, is to be between 509′ and 525′.

Kingdom 5KR

#26 & #60; Saudi Prince Khalid’s yacht “Golden Odyessy”, 256′, built 1990 and “Golden Shadow”, 219′, built 1995. “Golden Shadow” is purpose built to carry the main yacht’s extra “toys”, and accommodation for entourage.

And you guessed it, the largest yacht in the world:
Saudi Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Saudi Arabian defense minister’s yacht, “Al Salamah, 456′, launched 1999

Al Salamah

Or is it?
Yachtspotter.com claims the largest yacht in the world, at 531′, was launched last year and is called “Dubai”

Dubai

It may be narcissism, it may be hedonism, but it is definitely wild amounts of money.
