The French are “in,” the Brits are “out?”
Like a poker game turning on a card, the high stakes of international diplomacy can depend on the personalities sitting at the table.
The US, still not sure if their fries are French or Freedom and whether the beret-wearing cheese-eating surrender monkey can be trusted, are starting to give the French the benefit of the doubt while the British are starting to doubt the benefit of being best friends to a power that has got them into deep do-do.
It’s all about a change in leadership. A very good op-ed: America’s friend again: France!

It’s silly this idea of seeing international relationship as personified. Nothing can be further from the truth.
For instance militaries of both nations have always cooperated as a signle entity, just like any other member of the western block.
To read into political stances requires more subtleties than friend or foe.
Hard facts remains that france diplomacy has yet to realize france role as being limited, and understand the resaon of its limits.
