It is not unusual for American lawmakers to parrot the words of their favoured lobbyists.
And it’s not unusual for lawmakers to blame their staff after being caught out — I did not know where they got the information from.
And it’s not unusual for the lobbyists to actually write the legislation that lawmakers sign.
And it’s not unusual for the lobbyists to actually fund the campaign of the favoured lawmaker so he can repeat the lobbyist’s message and sign the lobbyist’s legislation.
What is unusual is that the words of about 40 US lawmakers were directly tied to two messages from one drug company lobbyist: 22 House Republicans and 20 Democrats.
