Afghanistan opium: so many questions without answers

The UN says opium production in Afghanistan has soared to record levels, with an increase on last year of more than a third.

How’s that for a bizarre headline. NATO soldiers are over there fighting off the now Pakistan-based Taliban so that Afghani farmers can be free to nurture their illegal crop.

There are a lot of questions about the war in Afghanistan but are there any answers?

Here is the BBC story: Afghanistan opium at record high. When reading it, remember Columbia and remember that Columbia is another of the lost drug wars.
