The Shock Doctrine, a winning argument?

Big Corporation has everything on its side: Big Governments, Big Media, Big Money, the Big Power, Big Sellers, Big Buyers and the mindless buying public. But they don’t have Naomi Klein.

So how will she fare selling her argument in her new book, The Shock Doctrine, out today, that “corporations manipulate natural and manmade disasters to line their pockets and further their privatizing agenda” — in the words of Vit Wagner in his article Naomi Klein’s New Book a Lightning Rod.

As with her first book, No Logo, she will once again take on the fight as a David against the Corporate Goliath. We can only hope she fares as well.

So while we watch and listen for the inevitable Corporate attack, let us resolve to give Ms Klein every benefit of the doubt and all the moral support we can muster. She’s going to need it and so are we. There is an enormous balance to be redressed here. Oh that Ms Klein can lead the way.
