Explaining Stephen Harper

The situation with Mr. Harper is as follows. He can’t bring in the policy agenda he wishes because the population isn’t far enough to the right.

Therefore, he has to sell himself as a competent manager, which he is. And he has to do politics well, which he does.

So, it’s all politics all the time. That comes across as cynical gamesmanship and that, as practised by all parties, turns off many Canadians.
