Pakistan and the CIA puppeteer

These Pakistan theatrics smell of US complicity.

The theory seems patently CIA: if one guy isn’t quite doing the job, why not add another, make him a woman and together this leadership hybrid will work wonders … by furthering its own ends by safeguarding the nuclear stockpile and getting rid of the Taliban.

Never mind that one is a dictator and the commander of the military, and the other has a history of hapless leadership and corruption, and never mind that they dislike each other. Maybe they can become more than the sum of their parts. I mean, it’s worth a try, right?

There seems something profoundly illogical and theatrical about the political situation evolving in Pakistan. It’s as if all the preposterous characters are being manipulated by a deranged puppeteer, not unlike the one that maniacally screwed up South and Central America until it lost control to populous leaders who listen to and responded to the cry of the people.

It is very hard not to be too cynical these days.
