In the UK we take our swans seriously

The inhumanity! The BBC reports that in Bedfordshire 30 swans were found shot.

Hardly national news anywhere else in the world, but in the UK swans are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act. Swans have a traditional Royal heritage, and the penalties for murdering swans is severe, as a spokesman for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds comments: “Anyone found guilty of killing one [a swan] could be fined up to £5,000 or go to prison for six months.”

Lets hope they catch the bastards.
