Canadians becoming Bush-era Americans

Thanks to a loopy, hybrid conservatism from resource-rich Alberta, Canada’s days as the kinder, gentler nation, the World’s Peacekeeper, are long gone.

Globe and Mail columnist Lawrence Martin nails it in It’s only been a decade, but the conservative way is redefining us. It’s a must read.

We, here, have made two of his key points:

Canada stuck with Bush while US moves on

Will the real Rick Hillier just go away

There has always been the observation that the only identity of Canadians is that we aren’t Americans.

That’s no longer true.

Thanks to Stephen Harper, Canadians are becoming Bush-era Americans.

  1. Its a good article. The world has changed, and with Harper Canada changed with it. We moved to the right, along with England, Holland, Germany, France and the rest of Europe.
Liberals are stuck in the past yearning for Trudeau, and clinging to a protectionist Obama.

  2. Glad someone else is noticing that. I was starting to think I was alone with this observation.

    Discouraging and disheartening, isn’t it?
