What’s a soldier worth? A Half Million? Nope. A million.

How do you run a war if you don’t even know what it costs?

(Or does that matter when all the money is borrowed.)

The difference between what the White House thinks it costs to send a soldier to Afghanistan for a year and what the Pentagon estimates is a mere $500,000 — a million vs half a million.

Are either accurate?

It is hard to find out if either figure includes the cost of the private military forces (the Blackwaters et al) in Afghanistan and Iraq which might tend to double the the guesswork, it certain does the crimes.
