Woman dunks, gets headlines

Watching a basketball game is like watching the same three or four plays over and over and over again. The variables are just too few to make a full game interesting, the last two minutes (without timeouts) maybe.

But now there is a new variable. A 6’8″ woman, Baylor’s Brittney Griner became the 7th woman to dunk a basketball in a woman’s college game. It was a one-handed slam.

A basketball hoop is 10′ from the floor, meaning that Ms Griner, with her arms extended, would have had to leap … I don’t know.

When someone 5’6″ does it, that’s a story, but 6’8″?
